Making folders appear at the top of the list in Mac’s finder

navigate to: /System/Library/CoreServices/
- right-click Finder.app and select Show package contents…
- navigate to: Contents>Resources>English.lproj
- backup InfoPlist.strings
- open the original InfoPlist.strings in a text editor
- locate the line that says:

Code:
"Folder" = "Folder";

- add a space at the start of the second “Folder”:

Code:
"Folder" = " Folder";

- save the file
- reboot or relaunch Finder

The space in front of “Folder” forces folders to the top of the list when sorting alphabetically by kind.

Thanks to Geektechnu for this tip.

Cool iTunes trick

If you happen to be using a Mac and don’t like the iTune 10′s vertical minimize and close buttons, you can change it back to the old style.

Open a terminal window and type the following command followed with the enter key.

defaults write com.apple.iTunes full-window -1

After you restart iTunes the buttons will be back to horizontal. To switch back to the default iTunes vertical layout, type the command above in again but change the -1 to a -0.

Enjoy!

Back from deployment… almost

Hey everyone!  I’m currently in Guam and almost home from my deployment.  It has been a long six months mostly due to missing my wife and kids.  In case you don’t know, I’m stationed on a US submarine and have been deployed on that boat over the last six months.
I can’t wait to get back to Connecticut and see my family agin.  I’m really looking forward to it!  It will also be nice to see my church family there at Heritage UPC.
God bless!
PS.  Now that I’ll be back in port for a little while, I’ll try to keep this and Pentecostal Blogger updated as much as I can!
Blessings!

Welcome to simplicity

Hello and welcome to my newest blog.  In this blog I intend to keep a chronological record of the simple things that meander in and out of my brain.  It will probably only be interesting to me, but for those looking for random thoughts, you’ve come to the right place!
